Cookies and storage on your device

We use cookies the site needs to work, and one optional kind: usage statistics with Google Analytics, which stay off unless you allow them. We never use advertising cookies.

Essential cookies

These are needed for signing in and remembering your language. They cannot be switched off, because the features would not work without them.

yn_userAlways on

What it does: Keeps you signed in to your YourNurses.io account. It holds a signed code, not your details. Only set when you sign in.

How long it lasts: 30 days, or until you sign out

yn_nurseAlways on

What it does: Keeps verified staff signed in to the nurse desk. Only set for staff.

How long it lasts: 12 hours, or until sign out

yn_langAlways on

What it does: Remembers the language you chose for the website.

How long it lasts: 1 year

yn_consentAlways on

What it does: Remembers whether you allowed usage statistics (Google Analytics), so we don't ask again. Only set when you answer.

How long it lasts: 1 year

Usage statistics (Google Analytics) are the only optional cookies. They are off until you allow them, and you can change your mind here at any time.

Analytics (optional)

If you allow it, we use Google Analytics to count visits to our public pages, so we can see which pages help people and improve the rest. It is off until you choose Allow, and nothing is loaded from Google before that.

What Google Analytics receives

  • The public page you opened and its title, without anything after a ? or # in the address, so no search words, places or codes.
  • The page on this site you came from, or only the name of the other website.
  • Your browser, device type, screen size, language and a rough location (country or city) that Google works out from your IP address. Google says it does not store IP addresses for Google Analytics 4.
  • A random ID in the _ga cookies, so repeat visits can be counted. It is not linked to your name, email or account.

What it never receives

  • Anything you type, say or upload: chat messages, forms, searches, photos or documents.
  • Your name, email, account or any health information. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and we never use it for advertising.
  • Anything from these pages, where it never runs: the assistant, the care finder, your account, Request a nurse, booking a call, sign in, sign up, password reset, email confirmation and the staff pages.

Google Analytics cookies

_gaOff until you allow

What it does: Tells one visitor's visits apart from others with a random ID. Set by Google Analytics only after you choose Allow.

How long it lasts: 13 months, or until you turn analytics off

_ga_2KS408C5VZOff until you allow

What it does: Keeps track of the current visit (session) for the same random ID. Only after you choose Allow.

How long it lasts: 13 months, or until you turn analytics off

How to turn it off

Turn off the switch in Your cookie preferences on this page. We stop sending at once and delete the Google Analytics cookies from this site. You can also block cookies in your browser.

Things saved in your browser

Some features save small items in your browser's local storage instead of on our servers. They stay on your device and are not cookies. Examples:

  • your health log readings
  • the private code for reading a nurse's reply
  • your chosen reply language and whether you agreed to upload files

Other services

The site loads its font from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers, which see your IP address. If you choose to show a map, it is loaded from OpenStreetMap in a frame, and OpenStreetMap's own cookie and privacy rules apply inside that frame. We use neither for advertising or tracking. While you type in the care finder's search boxes, our server sends the words, and a point rounded to about 500 m if you shared a location or chose a place, to Photon, a public OpenStreetMap search run by komoot, to suggest places. Your browser doesn't contact Photon, and we don't store what you type.
